PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition capable of forming a liposome dispersion having uniform particle size distribution and high stability in an aqueous phase. CONSTITUTION: This pharmaceutical composition is a dry product containing (A) a virtually pure synthetic phospholipid of formula I (R1 and R2 are each a 10-20C alkenoyl, wherein the number of carbon atoms are even; (n) is 1-3; Y<4> is a pharmaceutically acceptable base's cation), e.g. sodium 1,2-di-(9-cis- octadecenoyl)-3-3n-phosphatidyl-(S)-serine, (B) another virtually pure synthetic phospholipid of formula II (R1 is a 10-20C alkanoyl, wherein the number of carbon atoms are even; R2 is a 10-20C alkenoyl, wherein the number of carbon atoms are even; Ra to Rc are each H or a 1-4C alkyl; (n) is 2-4), e.g. 1-n- hexadecanoyl-2-(9-cis-octadecenoyl)-3-sn-phosphatidyl choline, and (C) a biologically active substance. The mixing molar ratio for both the phospholipids: A/B is (10:90) to (50:50), and, in particular, the molar ratio: (30:70) is suitable for producing a homogeneous mixture. |
