<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a resistor which is small in allowable error in a relatively short trimming time by continuously trimming a blank resistor until a desired resistance value is obtained by reducing the revolving speed of the blank resistor after the resistance value of the blank resistor approaches the desired value and terminating the trimming when the resistance value substantially becomes the desired value. CONSTITUTION:At the time of trimming a cylindrical blank resistor 1, a spiral trimming groove 24 is formed with a cutting edge by moving the resistor 1 forward in the axial direction as shown by the arrow 23 while the resistor 1 is rotated in the direction shown by the arrow 22. When the groove 24 is formed by rotating the resistor 1, the groove 24 is formed at regular pitches W1 within the extend of one or more rotations from a point P0 to another position P1. The rotating speed of the resistor 1 is reduced when it is confirmed that the resistance value of the resistor 1 approaches a desired value with a resistance value measuring instrument. Therefore, the pattern of the groove 24 varies as that in the P1-P2 section and the pitch becomes W2 which is wider than the W1. The trimming is terminated when the resistance value of the resistor 1 substantially becomes the desired value.</p> |
