PURPOSE:To provide the recording method for stereoscopic image so as to obtain satisfactory image quality by enlarging an area to record a differential signal as much as possible and reducing the compressibility of the differential signal while keeping a recording format at an existent two-dimensional VTR. CONSTITUTION:With respect to the recording method for stereoscopic image for which a main signal (l) is generated from an image signal L for left eye, a differential signal (d) is generated from an image signal for right eye and the video signal L for left eye, a magnetic tape is wound around a rotary cylinder while being inclined at 226 deg., and the differential signal (d) is compressed and recorded on the extended line of the recording track of the main signal (l) to be recorded inside this 266 deg. block, the differential signal (d) is compressed so as to get a synchronizing signal with the same cycle and the same phase as the horizontal synchronizing signal of the main signal (l), and this compressed differential signal (d) is recorded up to the vertical synchronizing signal position of the recording track of the main signal (l). |
