<p>PURPOSE:To simplify a control structure while multi-stage control for valve timing is being assured, enhance working efficiency in manufacture with manufacturing fabrication facilitated, and thereby lower production cost. CONSTITUTION:A phase transformation means interposed between a sprocket 2 and a cam shaft 1 is moved by allowing a control valve 33 to control an opening and closing action for each drain passages 35 through 38. By this constitution, the transformation of relative phase in rotation between both of them 1 and 2 is made in response to the operating condition of an engine, so that the open/close timing of an intake air valve is thereby controlled. The phase transformation means is equipped with an arm 12 fixed to one end section 1b of a cam shaft main body 1a, a piston 16 sliding to the cam shaft axial direction in response to the volmetric change of a hydraulic chamber 29, and with four sliders 18 which relatively push the respective side end faces of the arm 12 so as to allow the arm to be rotated as the piston 16 is moved back and forth.</p> |
