PURPOSE: To form a sandwich plate-shaped structure as a lightweight high strength reticulated fiber structure by applying deep draw processing to a sheet- like knitted fabric fiber material to provide a large number of bowl-shaped portions having surfaces running in parallel to the surface of the sheet. CONSTITUTION: A sandwich molded panel consists of an upper hard coating layer 1 and the lower hard coating layer 2 corresponding thereto. The coating layers 1, 2 are composed of a synthetic resin laminate reinforced, for example, by an aluminum sheet or a glass fiber. The core portion of the sandwich molded panel comprises a retuculated fiber material sheet 3 having a large number of bowl-shaped portions 4 regularly formed thereto. These bowl-shaped portions 4 are produced by deforming a knitted fabric fiber material impregnated with a synthetic resin by deep drawing. By this deformation, new surfaces 6 running in parallel to the original surface 5 of the reticulated fiber material sheet are formed. |
