PURPOSE:To obtain an effective and simple binary coder. CONSTITUTION:An encoder logic 400 consists of one finitestate machine, and this finite-state machine receives a present state 403 and an input bit 401 and outputs 0 or more output bits 402 and generates a bit which designates the next state. The output of this state is 18 fed back to become the present state 403 for the next input bit 401. Each state of the finite-state machine has one pair of transitions. One transition of the pair of the pertinent state is selected in accordance with the value of the input bit, and a bit stream 402 related to it is sent. This output bit stream is obtained by, for example, subjecting the input bit stream 401 to one or more processings of channel encoding, compression, and error correction code encoding.
