PURPOSE:To obtain a discharge lamp lighting device which can carry out the dimming easily, as well as can reduce the load of a main switching element. CONSTITUTION:The voltage of a commercial AC power source E is full wave rectified by a full wave rectification circuit 21, and smoothed by a smoothing capacitor C11. When a main switching element Q11 is closed, an auxiliary switching element. Q12 is opened, and the power is fed from the commercial AC power source E to an inductor L11 for resonance through the smoothing capacitor C11, so as to charge the inductor L11 for resonance. A pause period in which both the main switching element Q11 and the auxiliary switching element Q12 are turned off is set, and the auxiliary switching element Q12 is closed and the main switching element Q11 is opened. A resonance is generated by the closed circuit of the inductor L11 for resonance and the capacitor C12, and at the same time, a resonance is generated by the inductor L11 for resonance and a capacitor C13, a voltage is generated in the inductor L11, and a discharge lamp F1 is high-frequency lighted. |
