PURPOSE:To improve the picture quality by smoothing a border line between white and black levels in a binary image, uniformizing widths of a longitudinal line and a lateral line, excluding an isolated dot in a multi-valued image to form a stable high image quality intermediate image through concentrated dots thereby allowing correct gradation to be realized even for a highlight part in which an area of the gradation data and the picture is linear. CONSTITUTION:The image forming device processing input image data mixed with binary image data and multi-valued image data to execute image forming is provided with a binary image processing section 204 executing image processing of binary image data and a multi-valued image processing section 205 summing density data of picture elements adjacent a notice picture element in every direction, calculating the sum, retrieving a maximum sum of the total sums and providing an output of the direction of the maximum value as direction data of the picture element of interest. |
