A cutting device for dividing thermoplastic sheet 8 into strips comprises a plurality of thin cutting blades 1 which are fixedly-mounted on a non-rotatable shaft 3 and have arcuate or circular knife edges, a platform 6 for guiding the material to be cut and means for moving the shaft and platform into the cutting position. The thermoplastic material 8 to be cut, Fig. 1, may be moved over an interchangeable undersheet 7 of plastic or cardboard material into which the blades 1 can penetrate when the pivoted platform 6 is raised by a spring 9. The blades 1 together with brass spacers 3, Fig. 2, are threaded on to a hollow shaft 2 fitted internally with an electrical bladeheating element 4 which may be automatically controlled, the temperature of the cutting edges being measured by an element in contact with one of the blades.
