<p>In accordance with the present invention, novel methods and compositions including the enzyme subtilisin A or including the combination of an enzyme such as subtilisin A and one or more pharmaceutical agents, e.g. antibiotics, are disclosed. Topical formulations of subtilisin A have been found to have enhanced stability over prior art subtilisin formulations. Debridement activity of enzymes such as subtilisin A, subtilisin, bromelain and the like is enhanced when combined with one or more antibiotics. The enzymatic formulations according to this invention are preferably non-aqueous, and the debridement provided by these and other enzyme formulations is enhanced when used under an occlusive hydrocolloid-containing dressing.</p> |
