The device holds a number of logs (16) during cutting and has at least two pillars (2, 4, 6) connected to each other. The device has a flexible threadlike element (10, 11) equipped with elastic tighteners (12, 13, 15). There are hooks (14, 20, 17, 18, 19) of variable height on the device to press under permanent tension a number of logs (16) against the cradle (8). The flexible threadlike elements (10, 11) may be in the form of chains and when the logs are in the cradle they may be cut.
