<p>A method and apparatus (10) for treating contaminated soil by breaking up the contaminated soil and separating the soil by particle size (14) and passing the smaller sized soil particles through a series of soil (20, 30) washes in a first direction while directing the washing water in a second direction which is opposite to the first. The apparatus is preferably portable and provides for a continuous cleaning of the soil and recycling of the water in order to allow the decontaminated soil to be immediately returned to the ground.</p> |
