Air entering (2) the base-mounted refrigerating unit (9) is circulated by fan up a rear duct to form a cool falling air curtain in front of the displays. Bottles of champagne or similar wines, ranged in racks in the lower compartment, are kept at between +4 and +6 deg.C. The bottom rack is horizontal (3), the upper racks slightly inclined (4,4'). Savoury or sweet foods commonly eaten as accompaniments to such wines are displayed on two upper shelves (6,6'). Shelf and rack fronts hold interchangeable price tickets. Lighting, more diffuse for the lower compartment, is provided by a top fluorescent fitting (7) and spotlights on the corner uprights (8). The wood-framed, metal-panelled cabinet (1) has transparent sides to the upper compartment.
