The process involves using a humidity sensor (1), a microprocessor (6) and a transmitter (5). Variations of temperature (T) or pressure are applied to the humidity sensor. At successive intervals of time corresponding pairs of figures for relative humidity (HR) and temperature or pressure are acquired from which may be calculated the corrections to be made to the signal conditioning circuits, notably gain (G) and offset (D). The variation of temperature may be applied by a device using the Peltier effect. One pair of corresponding values may be acquired at ambient temperature and the second pair at either raised or lowered temperature.
