The service area of a radio selective call receiver is easily switched. When the movement information of the radio selective call receiver is registered in the radio call device of the service area in which the receiver is present, a call request is transferred to the radio call device of a designated service area. The radio call device transmits the receiving condition switching information of the radio selective call receiver as a radio signal. The receiver receives the signal and switches its receiving condition. Because the movement information and switching information each include information about the designated switching time, the transfer or switching is automatically performed when the designated switching time comes. Alternatively, in a system that the receiving condition is prefixed in every service area, the radio selective call receivers each have multiple call numbers, and each receiver sets one call number suitable for the service area where the receiver exists, the receiving condition and switching designating time are set in every service area. The receiving conditions include the radio channel, transmission system, receiver identification number, etc., and these conditions can be set separately or combinedly. The switching state and switching time can be displayed for confirmation. When the designated switching time comes, the receiving condition is automatically switched. The user is informed of the switching. The switching operations which have been made whenever the radio selective call receiver moves into another service area are collectively performed at arbitrary time. The receiving condition switching procedure is thus simplified and erroneous setting is avoided. Since the receiving conditions can be set at once in accordance with the schedule of the day, forgetting of switching and troubles can be eliminated.
