Cosmetic make-up compsns. contg. powdered Phaffia yeast are new. Pref., the yeast is selected from P. rhodozyma strains, including mutants that produce astaxanthin, accumulate beta -carotene or produce white carotenoid pigments. The compsns. contain 0.1-50 wt.% of the powdered yeast, which is produced by sterilising the yeast, suspending it in distilled water to obtain a suspension of up to 20%, and spray drying the suspension.
