<p>A device for separating and carrying sheets of paper comprises a feeding roller (21) and separating roller (31) which are disposed so as to confront each other wherein a plurality of sheets of paper arriving at a position upstream of the two rollers (21, 31) in a state in which they are not separated are separated from each other so as to be fed to a target position by rotating only the feeding roller (21) in a banknote carrying direction. An impeller (25) adapted to rotate together with the feeding roller (21) is provided on the same shaft as that of the feeding roller (21). Vanes of this impeller (25) are formed from a soft material and the length thereof is set such that it can be brought into contact with notes on the upstream side which have not yet been fed into between the feeding roller (21) and the separating roller (31).</p> |
