<p>A guanylhydrazone derivative represented by general formula (I) and a salt thereof, useful for treating or preventing diseases caused by various complications of diabetes and aging by virtue of its activity of inhibiting the mailard reaction and various diseases caused by lipid peroxide production by virtue of its antioxidant activity. In formulae (I) and (II) R1 represents R4-A- (A being a single bond, alkylene or phenylalkylene; and R4 being a group of general formula (II)); R2 represents hydrogen, alkyl, phenyl, phenylalkyl, nitrogenous monocyclic hetero ring or alkyl substituted by nitrogenous monocyclic hetero ring, or R?1 and R2¿ together with the carbon atom to which they are bonded represent cycloalkyl fused with R?4; and R3¿ represents hydrogen, alkyl or acyl; provided when A represents phenylalkylene, the phenyl is bonded to the carbon atom to which R2 is bonded.</p> |
