Power supply for longitudinal stator linear drive

A power supply for a longitudinal stator linear drive has the stator winding distributed along the travel path of a magnetically levitated vehicle and divided into several sections (1,2). The sections are switched through switches (3, 4) on at least one cable system (5,10) running past the sections. Each cable system has at least one static frequency changer (11) in a substation by the sections. The rated voltage provided by the rectifier(s) is greater than the rated voltage for the stator sections, but a transformer (32) is used to reduce the voltage to suit. Adjacent cable systems can be connected through the coupling switches (33, 34).
