The assembly comprises a series of metal plates (2) which lie parallel to one another, have smooth edges and corrugated centres to create a double circuit for the circulation of two separate fluids. The plates are connected to one another by lines of solder (11) along their lengthwise edges, and the assembly is held between upper and lower panels (12, 13) which cover their whole surfaces. The plate assembly is situated between upper and lower thrust bars (21, 22) or plates, connected by tie rods (23) to take up any stresses between the plates (2).
