Expansion fixing for holding insulation board on to brickwork

The fixing consists of a cylindrical deformable tube (1) with a head (11), longitudinal slit (4) and a second tube (2). The edges (6,7) of the slit along part of its length are turned towards the axis (3). The point (8) of the expanding tube is inserted into the widened end (18) of the second tube. The fixing is driven into a drilled hole (20) through the insulating board (27) and brick (21) until the widened end of the second tube is halted at the surface of the brick. The second tube expands to grip the sides of the hole as the expanding tube is driven further until its head holds the insulation board in place. The slit allows the first tube to be deformed and press against the inside of the second tube.
