Apertured film/nonwoven composite liner for personal care absorbent article

A body side liner, particularly for a sanitary napkin, comprises an apertured film layer 22 and a separation layer 26, the film layer having an open area of 10 - 30% of its surface area and the separation layer comprising a lofty non-woven web having a bulk of 0.76 - 3.8 mm., a basis weight of 17 - 85 g./sq.m. and an average pore size of 100 - 400 microns. The non-woven web may be a spunbond web or a through-air bonded carded web and may comprise bicomponent fibres of polyethylene/polypropylene or polyethylene/polyester, the fibres having side-by-side or sheath/core configuration. The liner may be associated with an absorbent core 16 having first and second layers of fiberized wood pulp.
