摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To improve the numerical aperture by partly overlapping an upper layer pixel electrode and a lower layer pixel electrode of the adjacent pixel, or a lower pixel electrode and an upper layer pixel electrode of the adjacent pixel through an insulating film. CONSTITUTION:Pixel electrodes 3, 4 and switching element 5 are formed on each crossing part of plural numbers of scanning signal wires 1 and image signal wires 2. The pixel electrode is formed to have a two-layer structure of the upper layer pixel electrode 3 and the lower layer pixel electrode 4 with an insulating film 8 interposed. Further, the upper layer pixel electrode 3 and the lower layer pixel electrode 4' of the adjacent pixel are partly overlapped with the insulating film 8 interposed. Thereby, leaking of light through this area is prevented and it is not necessary to form a black matrix 14 on the counter substrate 12 facing this area. If the upper pixel electrode 3 and the lower pixel electrode 4' of the adjacent pixel are regarded as the reference, the lower pixel electrode 4' and the upper pixel electrode 3 of the adjacent pixel are partly overlapped with the insulating film 8 interposed.</p>
