PURPOSE:To simultaneously display a stereoscopic picture and a plane picture by arranging a spectroscopic means on a position corresponding to a stereoscopic picture display area. CONSTITUTION:A 2D/3D switching signal generating circuit 5 prepares a 2D/3D switching signal to be turned to 'H' at the timing corresponding to a stereoscopic picture display area and to 'L' at the timing corresponding to a plane picture display area based upon a signal specifying the stereoscopic picture display area and horizontal and vertical synchronizing signals inputted from a synchronizing separator circuit 6 and outputs the prepared signal to a column driving part 22 in a barrier forming device 2 and a video signal switching circuit 4. On the other hand, the switching circuit 4 for inputting left eye side video signal and a right eye side video signal supplies the left eye side video signal to column driving parts 321, 322 in a video display device when the 2D/3D switching signal outputted from the circuit 5 is 'L' and individually supplies the left eye side video signal and the right eye side video signal to the driving parts 321, 322 when the switching signal is 'H'. |
