PURPOSE: To obtain liposomes containing bioavailable iron (II). CONSTITUTION: An additive for supplementing iron intake, containing bioavailable iron (II) in an aqueous medium, which contains a reducing agent such as ascorbic acid or its salt as a stabilizer for a reduced state of iron, and encapsulated into liposomes. Liposomes containing bioavailable iron are produced in the aqueous medium starting from iron (II) and phosphoglyceride.
