PURPOSE:To provide mounting structure of an air bag unit by which release of elastic jaw parts for engagedly fixing an instrument panel to an air bag unit and influence on the unit in inflating of a casing can be prevented. CONSTITUTION:A reinforcing iron plate 7 provided with elastic jaw parts 71 which are projected to outside by bent processing is attached respectively to the outsides of front/rear walls 52, 53 projecting from the rear face of an air bag lid main body 51 having a cracked part 51c so as to be fixed to a casing 4 in which an inflator 2 and an air bag 3 are incorporated, and the elastic jaw parts 71 are engagingly attached and fixed to lock parts 62 of aperture edges 61a of an instrument panel 6. This constitution prevents the elastic jaw parts 71 from releasing from the air bag unit 1, buffers and supports any sudden load in the case of inflation of casing following gas generation so as to restrict excessive deformation of the casing, to swiftly transmit inflating force of the air bag 3 to a cracked part of the lid main body 51, to surely and instantly crack the cracked part 51c so as to instantly develop the bag by setting the hinge part 51b as the center. |
