PURPOSE:To enlarge the upper and the lower angles of visibility and to prevent contrast from being lowered and numerical aperture from being lowered by the shading of disclination by preventing the disclination from occurring in a picture element. CONSTITUTION:A color filter 12, a common electrode 13 and a unidirectional oriented film 14a are formed on a glass substrate 11a, and a picture element electrode 15 and a divided oriented film 14b are formed on a glass substrate 11b, then a TN liquid crystal layer 16 is interposed between both substrates. In the oriented film 14a, rubbing is performed in a fixed direction (for example, a right upper direction) and in the oriented film 14b, the rubbing direction is switched from a right lower direction to a left upper direction every adjacent picture elements. |
