PURPOSE:To provide a laser amplifier of improved gain and amplification. CONSTITUTION:Laser light emitted from a laser oscillator 31 is corrected in its expansion angle with respect to an optical axis through a convex lens 32. The corrected expansion angle is corrected in response to excitation light power to a solid laser medium 33b. Laser light transmitted through the convex lens enters the excited solid laser medium 33b with the corrected expansion angle. Accordingly, even though the laser amplifier is influenced by a thermal lens effect of the excited solid laser medium, a volume of the solid laser medium can be effectually utilized compared with the cases where parallel laser light enters and where laser light is incident with the expansion angle of the laser light incident on the solid laser medium 33b for an incident side focusing position of the excited solid laser medium 33b. |
