PURPOSE:To provide a welding apparatus adapted to a contact type welding method almost uniformizing the bead formed to the welded part between thermoplastic resin tubular members and the weld strength of the welded part in the peripheral direction of the tubular members. CONSTITUTION:A welding apparatus 10 is adapted to a non-contact type welding method and equipped with clamps 16, 18 grasping tubular members 12, 14 to hold them horizontally and coaxially, a drive device 40 allowing one clamp to approach and separate with respect to the other clamp and the heating element 20 provided so as to be movable between the heating position between the clamps and the retracted position separated from the heating position and heating and melting the end surfaces of the tubular members. A gas is formed between the end surfaces corresponding to the heating surfaces of the heating element 20 of the tubular members in such a state that the heating element is present at the heating position. The heating surfaces of the heating element are formed so that the gap becomes narrow downwardly. |
