PURPOSE:To suppress a voltage generated at the time of quenching to low by so forming that a current flows to a heater for forcibly quenching a superconducting coil by an operation of a quench detector when the coil is quenched to expedite the quenching of the coil. CONSTITUTION:Superconducting coils 1a, 1b are connected in series, and excited by an exciting power source 3. In this case, when the coil 1a is quenched, voltages of the coils 1, 1b are unbalanced. The unbalance is detected by a quench detector 7, and a forcible quench heater power source 8 is operated. A current is supplied from the power source 8 to forcible quench heaters 2a, 2b, and the coil 1b in which the quenching does not occur is also quenched. Both the coils 1a, 1b are quenched, a generated voltage is suppressed to low, and safety of a superconducting magnet is held. Thus, there is no possibility of damaging the coil, and its reliability can be enhanced. |
