ELECTRIC DOUBLE LAYER CAPACITOR

PURPOSE:To provide an electric double layer capacitor employing a pellet of sintered active carbon powder as a polarizable electrode and containing a laminate of several capacitor cells sandwiched by terminal current collectors in an insulating case wherein the terminal current collectors are prevented from being short-circuited through a droplet of electrolyte oozing out from the polarizable electrode. CONSTITUTION:An insulating film 13 is formed on the surface of at least one terminal current collector on the inner wall face side of a case 1. The insulating film 13 prevents short circuit between the terminal current collectors even if the inner wall side surfaces of one and the other current collectors 3 are bridged through droplets 12 of electrolyte oozed out from the polarization electrode and adhered to the inner wall of the case.
