PURPOSE:To prevent the erroneous judgement even in the case where the engagement of a frictional element is inferior, by using the time variation rate of the number of revolution of a motor, in substitution for the effective gear ratio in the conventional, in the judgement of the propriety of the speed change capacity of an automatic transmission. CONSTITUTION:A controller 9 speed-change-controls and automatic transmission 2, having the throttle opening degree TH and the car speed V as control factors. During speed change, the controller 9 obtains the variation quantity per calculation cycle of the engine revolution speed detected by a sensor 13, and the excess/ shortage of the tightening capacity of a frictional element is judged on the basis of the gradient of the variation quantity of the engine revolution speed in the vicinity of the instant when the variation quantity of the engine revolution speed changes from positive to negative, at the final stage within the first set time which covers the region from the speed change instruction to the start of speed change, and the line pressure is learning-controlled so as to be set at the proper value. |
