This invention is directed to novel pyrimidines of the formula (I) <IMG> (I) wherein X is either (a) a group of the formula <IMG> or (b) a group of the formula -SR4 wherein R1 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, R2 is a cycloalkyl group or a heterocyclic ring, R4 is an alkyl group; Y is an amino group or a substituted amino group; Z is a substituted methyl group or a lower alkoxycarbonyl group or Y and Z together may form a group of the formula <IMG> or a group of the formula <IMG> wherein R5 and R6 represent alkyl groups or their pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof and process for preparation thereof. The novel compounds are useful for neurological diseases of the peripheral and central nervous systems of animals.
