PURPOSE:To prevent the fluctuation in throat height occurring in curving and bending of a head piece assembly. CONSTITUTION:The head piece assembly H including plural arrays H1, H2 of thin-film magnetic head elements is taken out by cutting from a wafer 1 on which many stages of the thin-film magnetic head elements Q11 to Qnm are arranged on a substrate 1a in a grid form. The thin-film magnetic head elements Q11 to Q1m, Q21 to Q2m of the respective rows H1, H1 included in the taken-out head piece assembly H have the same directivity as the same cut surface h1 or h2 respectively. Next, one surface h2 of both cut surfaces h1, h2 of the head piece assembly H is mounted at a mounting means and the other surface h2 is subjected to polishing. Next, the uppermost row H2 among the plural rows H1, H2 included in the head piece assembly H is disconnected from the other row H1. |
