PURPOSE:To perform a shadow modifying processing fast even for a complicated character. CONSTITUTION:This device consists of a character outline data storage part 1 stored with outline data on characters, an outline data read part 2 which reads the outlines of characters to be outputted out of the character outline data storage part 1, character by character, a shadow area outline generation part 6 which generate the outline of shadow area including a character and a shadow part under visible conditions for two successive edges of the character outline data read out by the outline data read part 2, a painting-out part 3 which converts the character outline data or shadow area outline data into bit map data by painting out the inside of the outline indicated by the character outline data or shadow area outline data, a bit map memory 4 which stores the bit map data, and an output display device 5 which displays the bit map data stored in the bit map memory 4. |
