Apparatus for recording and playback of information signals such as audio signals and video signals, provided with an input where the base-band signals coming from the receiving section proper of the radio or television set are received, an output, at least two submemories each provided with separate read/write means. Also present are switch-over means which allow the input to be connected to the read/write means of one of the submemories and which allow the output to be connected to the read/write means of another submemory. A control circuit is present via which the switch-over means are controlled in such a way that, at the command of the user of the apparatus, recording of the received signals commences in one of the submemories and that, upon a further command, there is a change of submemory and the recording is continued in another submemory, while the recording made on the one submemory is read out, after which there is again a change of submemory when the end of the recording made is reached, said procedure being continued until the user issues a stop command.
