The invention relates to large inflatable advertising objects. Making an object airtight from within and then inflating it so hard that the pressure is between 0.5 times and 1 times the maximum permissible pressure produces a stiff (rigid) construction which, possibly in conjunction with a few guy ropes, can be used under virtually any weather conditions. In the case of a cylinder it is also possible to cover it with a sleeve carrying an advertising message which, when the column is inflated, is stretched tightly over the surface. The sleeve may also contribute to the strength of the column (pillar).
