The invention describes a revolving door 1 for protecting access to a room 8, comprising a shaft 2 which can rotate in one direction and a number of wall panels 3 which are connected to the shaft 2. Walls 4, 5, which define an entry opening 6 and an exit opening 7, are placed around the path of the door panels 3. There is a closure member 12 for closing the exit opening 7. The closure member 12 is coupled to actuating means 13 which interact with detection means. The detection means are designed for individual identification of people and comprise a reporting unit 10 and an authorisation unit 11, and act only when the reporting person is inside an area which cannot be left and is formed by two successive door panels 3 and a wall 5 of the revolving door 1. <IMAGE>
