The combination has a traction vehicle attached to a trailer (4) by a trailer coupling with a first coupling part attached to the leading axle of the trailer. The opening of the second coupling part (15) provided on the vehicle is formed by a channel which extends from a side area on a side of the tractor (1) to the back of the vehicle. The insert opening (17) or a front end (16'') forming same is provided on the side area. The channel forms a rear cut section which after the coupling element is inserted in the second coupling part (15) is engaged at the back by this coupling element. The channel forms at the rear end at the back of the vehicle at least one stop for the coupling element inserted in the channel. The trailer coupling is released by suitable means which let the coupling element inserted in the channel slide out from same.
