The textile specimen is held in a clamp beneath a drop body measurement system with a non movable, switchable electromagnet with a lower conical opening with a 50 mm. vertical axis and a movable element. A corresp. shaped, magnetically attractable body (2) fits in the opening and weighs between 180 and 250 g. with a vertical axis at least 47 mm. long. The body is connected (3) to a piezoelectric force sensor (5) whose charge signal is converted into a force proportional voltage signal which is fed to a computer. The sensor is also connected (4) to a non-elastic, non-plastic measurement body (6) no more than half the wt. of the movable part and with a lower conical or spherical rounded end of radius between .5 and 25 mm. The clamp device holds the measurement textile surface horizontally beneath the movable measurement system at 10 mm. from the measurement body and under constant tension. The computer applies a regression algorithm to the voltage signal to derive the wear resistance.
