The hopper balance has a baseplate (14), a weighing hopper (16) beneath a filling opening (18) in the base plate, a weighing cell (26) attached to the underside of the base plate in a dust-tight housing (42) and a yoke (34) mounted on the cell from which the hopper is suspended. The yoke is mounted on the upper side of the base plate and is connected to the hopper and weighing cell via openings (32,38) in the base plate. The downward deflection of the yoke is limited to provide weighing cell overload protection.
