Folding multi-purpose food slicer

The food slicer comprises a housing with a cutting and drive mechanism. A slide carriage (32) moves over a stand (14) and has a finger guard (48) a section of which forms the back wall (38) of the slide. The finger guard and slide carriage are detachably connected together. When the slicer is folded away the slide carriage (32) is released from the finger guard and fits into a recess provided on the underneath of the stand (14). The finger guard fits in a recess (46) or other suitable clearance in the housing (6), slide carriage or collapsed slicer. In this collapsed state the residue holder (54) which is mounted on the backwall of the slide carriage and moves across the cutting direction is fitted on a corner of the slicer (2).
