The chuck is for a tool (7) in a machine. It has two male conical elements (3,5) fitting inside a female conical housing (2) and forced towards the narrow end of it to tightly grip the shank of the tool. The end of the housing at the broad end of the cone has a male thread (8). This thread engages a female thread on a cap (9) which is screwed onto the housing to compress the conical elements (3,4) into the housing. The cap pushes a broad-angle cone (11) onto cones on the ends of the conical chuck elements. There is a spring-loaded sealing element (20) inside this cap.
