Device to discharge salt water

An installation is for discharging salt water during the introduction of salt into a salt water vessel which is equipped with a filling nipple (11) and forms part of a softening unit in a dishwasher or a washing machine. When the salt water rises, above the siphon it is discharged via a siphon (21) until a preset filling level is reached. The siphon (21) is connected to a filling funnel (20) firmly and in a liquid-proof manner. The funnel (20) is connected the filling nipple (11) of the salt water container (10) to provide for the introduction of salt. The siphon end (22) located outside the salt vessel (10) is guided into a chute (31) of a collecting tube (30).
