<p>In a continuous casting process, gas-entrained particles are supplied to the pouring jet through the hollow stopper of the ladle or tundish, for the purpose of deoxidizing, oxidizing or increasing rimming action, nucleation, alloying, cooling, grain size control or machinability. The entraining gas may be propane, argon, nitrogen, oxygen, air, natural gas, hydrocarbon gases. Numerous examples of particulate solids for the purposes specified are tabulated.</p> |
