Versatile system for feeding particulate plastic from silos to extruders

Equipment for feeding one of several extruders with flowable, powdered or pelletised polymer feedstock from one of a number of silos comprises a switching system (3) between the extruders and the silos and connected to both by tubes (1, 2). The switching system (3) includes, flat, square or rectangular connecting plates (4, 8), the plate (4) on the silo connecting side having a row of feedstock inlet bores (5) and the plate (8) on the extruder side having similar outlet bores (9) connected to the extruder. Both plates (4, 8) have connectors (6, 10), to the bores (5, 9) on one side and a cross slide (7, 11) on the other side. A transfer pipe (16) connects both slides (7, 11) whose movement relative to the inlet (5) and outlet (9) bores is governed by a programme related to the extruder.
