PURPOSE:To obtain the title compsn. which does not generate a toxic halogen gas during burning by mixing a polyolefin with a metal hydroxide and a calcium aluminate in a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:The title compsn. is obtained by mixing 100 pts.wt. polyolefin with 100-300 pts.wt. mixture comprising 90-50wt.% metal hydroxide and 10-50wt.% calcium aluminate. A pref. metal hydroxide is magnesium hydroxide because of its high frame-retardant effect, and magnesium hydroxide having a mean particle diameter of 0.1-5mum and surface-treated with a metal salt of fatty acid, silane coupling agent, titanate coupling agent, etc., is pref. from the viewpoint of cohesion, toughness, flame retardance, water resistance, etc. Calcium aluminate having a mean particle diameter of 0.1-5mum and surface- treated with a fatty acid, metal salt of fatty acid, silane coupling agent, etc., is pref. from the viewpoint of cohesion, toughness, flame retardance, water resistance, processability, etc. |
