PURPOSE:To improve sealing fixing properties, abrasion resistance and pen aptitude by adding a specific salicylic acid derivative or a metal salt thereof to a thermal recording layer as an electron acceptive compd. and specifying the wt. ratio of a pigment component in an overcoat layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermal recording material is constituted by arranging an overcoat layer on a thermal recording layer and the thermal recording layer contains a usually colorless or light-colored dye precursor and an electron acceptive compd. reacting with the dye precursor at the time of heating to develop a color. In this case, as the electron acceptive compd., at least one kind of a salicylic acid derivative represented by the general formula (wherein X1 and X2 are a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or a halogen atom and the others and R is an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aryl group or the like) or a metal salt thereof is added and the wt. ratio of a pigment component in the overcoat layer is set to 30 wt.% or more per the total wt. thereof. |
