<p>PURPOSE:To enhance uniformity of a resin coat by treating a carrier core material with a compound containing specified polyoxymonocarboxylic anions and then, coating it with a coupling agent and a resin. CONSTITUTION:The electrophotographic carrier has the core material of an iron powder, a ferrite powder, or a magnetite powder and like, preferably, particles having metal atoms on the surface, and the core material is treated with the compound having an polyoxymonocarboxylic anion represented by the general formula: CH2OH(CHOH)nCOO- in which (n) is an integer of 2-7, and then, it is treated with the coupling agent and coated with a resin. The polyoxymonocarboxylic anion applies chelating action to the metal atoms on the surface, thus permitting very fine roughness to be formed on the surface of the core and adhesion between the core material and the coat resin to be enhanced.</p> |
