METHOD FOR TESTING PERMANENT CURRENT SWITCH

PURPOSE:To recover quickly without the need of large electric power source and suppressing evaporation of freezing mixture when a permanent current switch is quenched by flowing a circulating current of permanent mode from a first electric power source and allowing a direct current to flow in the same direction as the circulating current to the permanent current switch from the second electric power source. CONSTITUTION:In a superconducting circuit that is comprised of a superconducting coil 1 and a permanent current switch 2, a circulating current of a permanent current mode is supplied from a first electric power source 7 and a direct current in the same direction as the circulating current is supplied to a permanent current switch 2 from a second electric power source 4. Connecting a bypass circuit 5 between lead wires 6, 6' that connect the permanent current switch 2 with the second electric power source 4, most of the circulating current is bypassed by the bypass circuit 5 when the permanent current switch 2 is quenched. Then allowing a current that is in the reverse direction with the bypass current and a little smaller than the bypass current to flow in the bypass circuit 5, the quenched permanent current switch 2 recovers the superconducting state.
